Sydney Sweeney, born September 12, 1997, is an American actress that rose to fame for her role in the critically acclaimed H.B.O. drama “Euphoria.” She first started winning roles on television and film in 2009, but only gained mainstream attention for her roles in the Netflix series “Everything Sucks!” and Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale.” She starred in minor roles in many television series, T.V. movies, short films, web series, and movies before landing her breakthrough role on “Euphoria.” She has captured the hearts of audiences not only for her acting talents but for her beauty and sex appeal. Sydney Bernice Sweeney was born in Spokane, Washington on September 12, 1997. Her mother is a lawyer and her father works in the medical field. She has a younger brother named Trent with whom she was raised in northwestern Idaho along the Washington border. She attended Saint George’s School in Spokane where she was active in athletics. She found an interest in acting after auditioning as an extra for a film shoot taking place in the Spokane area. Presenting a five-year business plan, she managed to convince her parents to temporarily move to Oregon so she could audition and book commercials. They eventually relocated to Los Angeles when she was 14 years old.

Sweeney’s first role on television came in 2009 on an episode of “Heroes” and “Criminal Minds.” She went on to guest star in many popular shows like “90210” (2010), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2014), and “Pretty Little Liars” (2017). The year 2018 marked a handful of special performances. She starred in the Netflix series “Everything Sucks!” and had a recurring role in the H.B.O. miniseries “Sharp Objects” which focused on mental illness. She was also part of the cast nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for the second season of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” In 2019, Sweeney was cast as one of the main characters ‘Cassie Howard’ in the hit H.B.O. series “Euphoria.” Her role as a troubled yet innocent teenager with a promiscuous reputation catapulted her into fame and established her status as a sex symbol. Since 2009, Sweeney has also been active in movies such as the horror film “Along Came the Devil” and the thriller “Under the Silver Lake,” both released in 2018. In 2019, she appeared in the drama “Clementine,” the coming-of-age movie “Big Time Adolescence” and the Academy Award-nominated dramedy “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” She was also featured in the music video for “Graveyard” by Halsey. Sweeney starred in the main role in the T.V. film “Nocturne” (2020) and “The Voyeurs” (2021). Her upcoming projects include H.B.O’s T.V. series “The Player’s Table” and the Sony superhero film “Madame Web,” alongside Dakota Johnson.

In December 2020, Sweeney donated $12,000 to some restaurants in her hometown of Spokane, which was utilized to serve meals at homeless shelters. Since February 2022, she has been engaged to her longtime boyfriend and Chicago-based restaurateur Jonathan Davino. She owns a dog named Tank who she has had since she was 17. She was recently awarded the second annual Breakthrough Award by ATX TV Festival for her H.B.O. roles.
